Here I am on a small break in between places recuperating for just a short time before I travel to Nigeria...Last night we arrived home to Calgary from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic...or shall I say the Dominicano Republica. I don't know what it is but already I am wishing that I were back there, laying on the beach, catching some rays, dancing the Merengue, sipping on a Bahama Mama or Pina Colada, snorkeling, eating, playing...it is probably due to the weather here...winter weather!
The Dominican is beautiful. Katie and I tried to get certified for diving, but it didn't seem to work out b/c we decided to cancel and get our money back after feeling as though we were not allowing ourselves to do anything else except to continuously check to see if the dive was a go or not each day. See...we were told 3 days in a row that the weather was bad (bad meaning too many waves), thus not allowing us to dive. So we got our money back and will both do our 4 open water dives in Australia. Instead we went snorkeling with just mom.
The water is so blue and green, the sand is amazingly white and fine...and the palm trees and luscious greenery are breath-taking! It wasn't easy for some people due to people coming down with the flu, mainly Julie and her kids and Chris and Missy and their kids. I luckily was feeling fine and dandy the whole trip. What else is there to tell...ohh...the beautiful looking men...yes yes...so many fine men to look at! A running joke on the trip was how I had a bunch of husbands (men kept flirting and proposing!) My own mother even bartered me off to get a good deal...telling him he could marry me....in exchange for a few bucks off of some souveniers!
what else...oh...speaking Spanish! Coming home, I want to say "hola!" or "gracias" and other phrases commonly used. It was fun...and despite some rough parts due to sickness and moving to a different resort...it was a wonderful family vacation....now to just get everything in order to go to Nigeria on Monday...WOW...
